POLYTECHNIC IBRAHIM SULTAN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT EJ502-CONTROL SYSTEM

PRACTICAL : 7 TITLE : Stability and Frequency Response (Bode Diagram)

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE (SO) : At the end of the experiment, students will able to: i. ii. Obtain the Bode diagram of the given transfer function using MATLAB. Analysis the Bode diagram of the system using MATLAB.

THEORY/BACKGROUND :

Frequency Response : The frequency response is the steady state response of a system when the input to the system is a sinusoidal signal. Frequency response analysis of control system can be carried eithed analytically or graphically. The various graphical techniques available for frequency response analysis are 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Bode Plot Polar Plot (Nyquist Plot) Nichols Plot M and N circles Nichols chart

Bode plot : The bode plot is a frequency response plot of the transfer function of a system. A bode plot consists of two graphs. One is plot of the magnitude of a sinusoidal transfer function versus log . The other is plot of the phase angle of a sinusoidal transfer function versus log . The main advantage of the bode plot is that multiplication of magnitude can be converted into addition. Also a simple method for sketching an approximate log magnitude curve is available.

APPARATUS : MATLAB R2011a

PROCEDURE : (PART A) 1. The transfer function was consider on the open loop system

2. The command window was open

3. To plot the Bode diagram, the transfer function and the command was enter.

4. The procedure for the following transfer function was repeat

5. The results was print.

PROCEDURE : (PART B) 1. From the transfer function, consider a open loop system of
