Scissor Case

DESCRIPTION: Scissor case with two pockets and ties has contrast lining and encased edges. FINISHED SIZE: 15-1/2" (39.2cm) X 8" (20.2cm) FABRIC SUGGESTION: Cotton, Linen, Gingham. LINING SUGGESTION: Wool, Flanel, Terry Cloth. YOU WILL NEED: - One piece of fabric 17" (43.1cm) X 16" (40.6cm) - One piece of lining 17" (43.1cm) X 16" (40.6cm) - One piece of fusible interfacing 17" (43.1cm) X 16" (40.6cm) - 1 yd. (91.5cm) of 3/8" (1cm) wide twill tape - 2 yds. (183cm) of double fold bias tape INSTRUCTIONS: NOTE: Seam allowances are 1/4" (6mm). 1. Fuse INTERFACING to wrong side of FABRIC section, following manufacturer's instructions. 2. Measure and mark two square sections, one for BACK (1) and one for POCKET (2), as shown on the fabric layout chart.

3. To adjust corners of pocket section, pin TEMPLATE to lower edges and transfer outer lines, as shown. Erase square corner markings.

7. Cut two pieces of twill tape, each 15" (38cm) long. 8. Measure 6" (15.2cm) from lower edge of back and make a small pencil markers at sides. Pin one end of each twill tape section to back, centering over markings. Baste.

4. Cut out individual sections, as shown.

9. Pin pocket to lining, having wrong sides together and edges even; baste.

5. Prepare LINING in the same manner as fabric, omitting reference for the interfacing. 6. Pin back to lining, having wrong sides together and edges even; baste. 10. Encase upper edge of pocket with double fold bias tape. Stitch close to inner pressed edges.

11. Pin pocket to back, with lining sides together and matching side and lower edges. Baste raw edges together. Stitch.

13. Starting from the center, encase edges with double fold bias tape, turning under ends to meet at lower edge, as shown. Stitch close to inner pressed edges. Press.

12. Measure center line and make a pencil marks. Stitch pocket and back together along center, as shown.

You are done!
