Class 2NG Fitness/Movement/Dance Sessions

Wednesdays 2:30pm-3:00pm

follows and repeats simple movement skills and patterns to specific rhythms, eg walk walk jump jump explores rhythmical patterns using different body parts shows movements with various parts of the body in response to words, music performs locomotor skills at different speeds, eg walk fast, slowly, heavily During the 30-min fitness/movement/dance sessions, students in Class 2NG will participate in a variety of movement activities to western and Asian pop/chart music. Activities will include experimenting with non-locomotor and locomotor movement skills, using various parts of the body whole body movements and isolations. Students will experiment with movements involving changes in direction, height, speed and accents/syncopations. Activities may include aspects of modern (hip hip/funk) dance, common dance moves (e.g. grapevine) and general cardio-vascular exercises (e.g. star jumps). Sessions will also include teaching safe floor and standing stretches.
