CODE SWITCHING Code switching is switching between two or more languages, or language varieties, in the context of a single conversation.

It is not new in our society today since many people tend to use this. When I think about it, it is really convenient to use especially when you want to convey your mind and feelings in a way where you can express it freely. Since many people today can speak in different languages, like here in the Philippines where we have Filipino as our Code 1 or national language and English as our second language, code switching is frequently used. Though some may think that it shows a deficiency of a person in one language, now instead it is considered as proficiency in languages. Code switching contributes in enhancing our vocabulary and also our knowledge in different languages or dialects. Code switching may not look good for a persons intellect on language proficiency and some may say that it also affects the countrys mother language but with it people can not only be proficient in one but in many language, enabling them to enhance their conversational skills and for them to express their thoughts and feelings freely.
