March 7, 2013 Chicago Shakespeare Theater seeks a self-motivated and detail oriented individual to act as Assistant Technical Director. This individual will work with the Technical Director and another Assistant Technical Director to plan and execute installations, changeovers, strikes, transfers and build projects for all CST productions. The ATD will also help to coordinate scenery construction with subcontracted scene shops, schedule labor for work calls and maintain a current list of over-hire technicians. Other duties include assisting the TD in the building and maintenance of stock scenery; organization of backstage, loading dock and warehouse spaces; and maintenance of show-specific scenery. This is a full time salaried position with benefits. Requirements for this position include: - Bachelors degree or better in technical theater or design - At least three years of experience in professional theater - Strong carpentry and wood working skills - Strong rigging skills - Strong communication skills - Strong organizational and time management skills - Proficiency with AutoCAD 2008 or newer - Positive, team-oriented attitude Desired skills for this position include: - Experience with welding and metal working - Experience with automated scenery - Experience with fluid power, especially hydraulics - Intermediate scenic paint skills - Intermediate fabric and sewing skills Position will begin April, 2013.
