A human being is a very complex composition. Inside of the envelope which is the body, resides an infinite world that defines who we are. That world is the

personality, ones essence and identity. If each personality could be represented by a symbol, mine would be a Phoenix. In the Greek mythology the Phoenix was a long-lived bird that had life cycles. After an amount of time that bird would die , and obtain a new life from the ashes of the predecessor. Behind the young woman I am today theres a long story with ups and downs. At a very early age, I was separated from my dad and my siblings. Raised by my mom, growing up I often felt alone. Living in a poor country wasnt the worst I have seen, I have been through an earthquake, a hurricane, and countless dark moments. The experiences I have had throughout my life built my personality, and shaped me into who I am today. The best symbol that can describe me is the phoenix because I feel that have had so many periods in my life where I have died, but the lessons that I have learned from these intense moments helped me come back to life. The phoenix is also associated with the sun and resurrection. Every evening the sun disappears and every morning its comes back to its place in the sky. I often feel like the sun in that I feel like I have to retreat from the world because I am discouraged, depressed, misunderstood, or unhappy; however, I always find the strength somewhere inside of me to emerge from the clouds. I have known rough times that killed my spirit, but a new me always came out of the ashes. The phoenix is a symbol of courage and willpower to never let lifes burdens weigh you down.

I might be young, but I have experienced numerous amount problems. These problems could make me pass for a victim of lifes harshness, but I consider myself to be a phoenix. I am a calm young girl who can be vulnerable. I often stumble along the way, and even fall sometimes; nevertheless like the phoenix I come back to life, reborn from my ashes.
