July-December Report 2011 The Suriname Ministry Hough Family 1.

Where did you see God working in this period for the Suriname Ministry? The Lord gave me the opportunity to see what it would be like to be a pastor of a church that had a makeup of only Hindustanis. I had a chance to put some of the years of experience in relating to Hindustanis in action. The asking of the many questions over the years concerning the culture really paid off. There was not one problem that we could not handle at the church in Jaricaba. It was a real blessing. 2. What unique opportunities do you have to minister on behalf of the Suriname Ministry? We started ministering to Believers in Jaricaba in May 2011. Bro. Hidra had two churches, one in Groningen and Jaricaba both churches were dying spiritually. We gave presentations at both churches. The goal was to give our Bible Study of the 2nd Coming of Christ in Jaricaba. We started with the film, Sardhar Sundar Singh. The few Believers that were there were so excited the coming weeks, the leaders, (just two who started with the church from the beginning) ask me if I would consider becoming pastor. The coming weeks they kept insisting. I said I would help the church develop a good foundation as an Elder, then after that, well see where the Lord leads us. The coming months we have had over 25 sermons, equality amount of Bibles Studies and prayer meetings on Wednesdays. We have had countless visitations Believers at Jaricaba. We praise the Lord that our prayer meetings on Wednesdays which were well attended. Everyone in the church from the children to the adults began praying in our services publically. In addition, through the ministry, 13 individuals were baptized in August 2011. We have now about 4-5 individuals who also want to be baptized. We did special session for the Believers to understand what was the meaning behind getting baptized? After the baptism we began a couple sessions on the Lords Supper before implementing that also into the church at Jaricaba. We began with 7-15 not coming regularly in May, and by November we had 3040 coming regularly at Jaricaba. It was a very busy and trying time during those months but it was well worth giving them the foundation they needed. We are afraid if we leave people will stop coming on a regular basis but not believing in the Lord.

DIFFERENCES ON THE HORIZON Bro. Hira is a good Brother, but he really doesnt study or give Bible study for the Believers. His wife is also involved in the ministry, which is adding to further conflict. Their main interest is, praying for healing, fighting demons, and praying that the Lord is blessing you with prosperity. Even though we believe in many of the things he teaches, but we have a different priority in seeing that the Believers have a firm foundation to be able to stand the storms that we come their way. Bro. Hira told the church that he teaches one way and I teach another, but there are about the same. I knew then that differences were beginning to surface when he had to explain his ministry. Gods Word should be the only source of explaining we need. But Bro. Hira method of ministry doesnt require much studying and leans more to emotions. RADIO PROGRAM The radio program has always been a source of blessings to us. Ministering at Jaricaba brought many challenges for the upkeep of the radio programs. But the Lord has shown me for my latter years in ministry this will be a source of great resources to pull from. RAPAR (ACME) FM 91.2, Saturdays 7:45-8:00 AM, aired for 15 minutes (Aapke Kia Bietjaar Hai). HINDI LANGUAGE STUDY Sarnami and Hindi are different. I could not really keep up my studies in Hindi because of the ministry at Jaricaba. I hope to continue with my Hindi studies at the beginning of the year. ZUID BAPTIST CHURCH We have been members of Zuid Baptist Church since I have been in Suriname. A couple of years ago the church split and is not struggling or just maintaining. They have asked us we would lead some of their cell groups and begin preaching at Zuid. We are still in prayer about that because that would take us away from our main focus of concentrating on building up Hindustani Believers ORPHANAGE SUDHAN Just before Easter in 2011 we stop giving Bible Study to the Teeners and the Staff. It was a good time of study and showing films to encourage the teeners and staff there.

3.

What prayer request or praise to the Lord do you have for the work in the Suriname Ministry? We praise the Lord for having had the opportunity to work with the Orphanage Subdhan. We praise the Lord for the Believers at Jaricaba. We praise the Lord for our home church who has supported us by consistent giving if not for that this ministry might have been possible -- but through the Lord, it is only possible through their love and faithfulness to Him that they are doing this. We praise the Lord for those who gives when the Lords Spirit moves them. We asked for prayer for the spiritual growth of the Believers at the Jaricaba Church. We ask for prayer our on-going Radio Program. We ask for prayer for our Home Church Bethesda that will be in search for a new pastor and that the Lord will meet their spiritual and physical needs during this time. We praise the Lord for Sis.
