August 2010 Report The Suriname Ministry Hough Family

1.

Where did you see God working in the short furlough for the Suriname Ministry?

I saw the commitment to missions from those who are or have been supporting this ministry in Suriname. Even though these are tough economic times, those whom we met had a commitment to missions, even if it was in their own way. By being home from the field, it seemed to give people motivations that the Lord still has placed his workers in the place where He wanted to be. That really encouraged me to keep going forward and be motivated in this work in Suriname. 2. What needs that were further met by your having return to the U.S. for this short furlough?

By coming home, we really didnt have the finances to return, but the Lord supplied with a place to stay in Silver Springs, MD, with a family that has a heart for the Lords workers and mission work especially. Those who we met with responded to meeting many of our needs. Even when my car broke down, Sushil and Joyce supplied us with an automobile to attend our home church services. church meeting and ministry presentations until our car was fixed broken fuel line. They (Family Yesepyria) saw that Micha, Melody, and Mila were fed and always encouraged. We got to be a little refreshed by seeing or speaking to most of those who encouraged us in this work prayerfully or financially. There is something specially about meeting someone face-to-face than over the telephone, email or letters. We met old friends at the Marathi Conference who encouraged us as well. 3. What unique opportunities did you have to minister on behalf of the Suriname Ministry?

During the 7 weeks that we were in the U.S. we were able to present the Suriname Ministry through video and question and answer at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist church, Md; Higher Calling Ministries, Prince Georges, Md; Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. Washington, MD; Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Niagara Falls, NY; Grace Community Ministries, Niagara Falls, NY; 1 meeting at the Yesepriyas home, and a testimony about the Suriname Ministry at our *IFI Marathi Conference in Burtonsville, MD during the weekend of June 25-27. * Marathi Conference is an annual conference that IFI has which ministers the Gospel to Christians who speak Marathi, a dialect of Hindi.

4.

What significant events (in your furlough) have occurred for the Suriname Ministry?

I had chance to see and communicate with my brother in Nashville, TN, 2 (two) brothers in Buffalo, NY. Had a chance to talk to my brother in Fayetteville, NC. Fran Rodgers took us out to lunch. Pastor Tim Brown took us out to lunch after service with members from Mt. Zion both were a real blessing of relaxing and fellowship. Had a chance to meet our new pastor at Bethesda, Baptist Church, Pastor Gregory Williams. Had a chance to have talk and lunch with CD Thompson at his home. I spoke with a number of Christians over the phone. Didnt really have the time to visit and sit down to have a good chill time with friends like I normally do on furlough. Every one of us got physical checkups thank the Lord we have health insurance. We are almost looking at piece meal furloughs until Micha and Melody graduate from High School 2012 & 2013. We only have about 2 months to return to the U.S. to do a little ministry, personal things, (doctors appointments. Checkups, and tests, etc.), visits, etc. before they return to school in August. Furlough was really a little more stressful this time. Just leaving to come to the U.S. is no small chore returning can be just as hectic which it was. 5. What prayer request or praise to the Lord do you have for the work in the Suriname Ministry?

We praise the Lord for Family Yesepriya who made this furlough less stressful by them sharing their home and hospitality that is something you cant put a price on friendship and the demonstration of it and in spite of their financial difficulties. We praise the Lord for our cousin Joan Barns hospitality for us in Buffalo, NY. We praise the Lord for our home church who has supported us by consistent giving if not for that this ministry might have been possible -- but through the Lord, it became possible through their love and faithfulness to Him (our Lord). We praise the Lord for the churches we visited, the kind words of encouragement and gifts that we received and for the Pastors we met and spoke with and their encouraging words (Sis. D. Johnson, Bro. T. Henderson, Bro. C.H. Johnson, Bro. A. Todd, Bro. T. Brown. We praise the Lord for Sis. Dandeker, our Directress at IFI, our spiritual navigator in this ministry. Please pray for the Family Yesepriya that the Lord will honor their spirit of hospitality that was extended to us. We ask that you pray for our getting back into our routine in our ministry in Suriname. Please pray that I get a newsletter out soon. In-His-Love, The Hough Family
