Introduction

First of all my name is Pattham Puechkamut now I am studying in Grade 8. This is my Portfolio. In my portfolio there are lots of items in which I put in here. Many of the assignments and the things related to my lessons are in here. And all of the things that are important to me in studying science for the first quarter are in here. All of the things in here help me in my lesson. Some also can help me in my everyday life. Many of them make me understand more on my lesson. And most of them review me of what I have learned. Also many others are for testing my skills in science. The portfolio will be about acid and bases, how substances dissolve, carbon, balancing chemical equation, finding the molarity, and more. And because of the labs, assignments, and tests I did this quarter, as a young scientist, I learn many new things. Many of the things I never learn before such as the balancing chemical equation, naming carbon chain, and finding the molarity etc. Now I know a lot more in science, but I still have lots of weakness, like the balancing chemical equation I still dont know how to do it that much. And I guess that as I study more I will be able to understand these lessons.

Writing and Balance Equations Word Equations Chemical Equations worksheet Concept Reviews: Acid and Bases Molar Mass Worksheet Grams/Moles Calculation Balancing Chemical Equation (internet) Molarity (internet) PH Scale (internet) Basic Substances (internet) Acidic Substances (internet) Solution: saturated, Unsaturated (internet) Carbon Allotropes (internet) Carbon Chains (internet) Carbon in Human Body (internet)

Molar Mass Worksheet This worksheet let me practice about calculating molar mass. Which make me understand more on calculating molar mass. It helps me master more on this lesson about calculating molar mass. It makes me know that calculating molar mass is a very challenging calculation. I feel that this worksheet is very useful for me and everyone.

Grams/Moles Calculation This worksheet helps me learn about changing grams to moles and moles to grams. It also prepares me for the test about this. And after doing this sheet, I found out that calculating moles to grams is also very interesting. And it recalls what I have learned about the moles and grams calculation which makes me ready for the test.

Chemical Equations worksheet This worksheet teaches me about how to balance and write the chemical equation. It masters me for the test. It really helps me understand more about balancing equation. I feel really good to be able to know how to balance equation and write the chemical equation.

Writing and Balancing Equations This worksheet teaches me a lot of basics about balancing chemical equations, and it prepares me a lot for the harder balancing equation worksheets. It makes me understand more on this lesson of balancing chemical equation which I dont really understand at first.

Word Equations This worksheet is very interesting. It helps me to know more about changing word equation in to chemical equations and know how to balance it. Even though it is quite hard, but it is very useful. And it helps me to practice a lot. It also helps me to understand more on putting the coefficient in the equation.

Concept Review: Acid and Bases This worksheet is one of the most important worksheet because it helps me to be able to understand the lesson better than before. It is also a review for me of the lesson. It recalls what I have learned earlier in the chapter that I might forget. It prepares me for the chapter test, and it gives me more knowledge about the acids and bases and about how substances dissolve.

Solution : Saturated, Unsaturated

This picture shows us about the saturated and unsaturated solution. As we have learned in the past chapter that in saturated solution the solute cant dissolve in the solvent anymore, but in unsaturated solution the solute still can dissolve in the solvent. This picture shows us very clearly about the unsaturated and saturated solution. On the left, the unsaturated solution, there is less molecules of solute in the solvent, on the other hand, in the right side, the saturated solution, there are a lot of solute in the solvent that the solvent is already full, so the solute cant dissolve anymore.

Carbon Chains

In this quarter we learn about the carbon chain. This picture I got from the website named tutor visa. This shows us the chain of carbon atom which could be linear, branched, or rings. And because we are learning about the naming of organic compounds, we also need to name the carbon chain in branch, linear, and ring form.

Balancing Chemical Equation

In this quarter we also learn about the balancing and writing chemical equation. This image is about balancing the chemical equation. The coefficients are used to balance a chemical equation, while the subscripts cant be change when balancing the chemical equation. Actually this image also shows us very clearly how to balance the equation also.

Carbon in Human Body

This picture from the internet shows us that carbon is very necessary for humans. It tells us that 18% of human body is made of carbon. Well, not only human, as we have learned that carbon is the building blocks of life. So basically carbon is extremely important.

Molarity

This picture I got from the internet. It is about the equation for calculating the molarity. In this quarter we learn about calculating the molarity, changing grams to moles, moles to grams, and finding the molar mass. Well this molarity equation picture here tells the equation you can use to find the molarity of a solution.

Allotropes of Carbon

This picture is from Wikipedia. It shows us the allotropes of carbon. As we have learned, carbon comes in many forms. In this picture a) is Diamond, b) Graphite, c) Lonsdaleite, d) C60 (Buckminsterfullerene or buckyball), e) C540, f) C70, g) Amorphous carbon, and h) single-walled carbon nanotube.

Basic Substances

These are the example of basic substances. These pictures are from the internet. These are Ammonia and soap one of the basic substances. These two have PH higher than 7 which means that both of them are basic. Bases have many uses in our lives just like acids.

Acidic Substances

These are the examples of the acidic substances. I got these pictures from the internet. It is the example of the acidic substances. The pictures are Hydrochloric acid and lemon. Which both contain the PH number lower 7 (PH lower than 7 means that it is acidic) actually there are a lot of acidic substances in this world, and many acids are very useful in our human life.

Ph Scale

This picture I got from Wikipedia it is about the PH scale. We are learning about the acids and bases this quarter, and PH scale is the scale that is used to measure whether a substances is acid or base. The lower the PH number is the more acidic, the higher the PH the more basic.
