Baton Rouge residents bike for children with asthma

BATON ROUGE, La. (Feb. 26, 2013) Baton Rouge residents participated in a 25-mile bike marathon on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, to raise money for Full Circle, a local nonprofit organization that supports children with asthma. The marathon raised $5,000 and will contribute to the medical expenses of 50 children with asthma under age 10 in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The bike marathon was a huge mental and physical challenge that saw everyone struggle at times. Reaching the finish line and raising $5,000 is a huge achievement for the whole of Full Circle, Full Circle Director Andrew Lloyd-Jones said.

Mayor Kip Holden flagged off the 150 participants who biked down River Road in downtown Baton Rouge. A band played along the route to motivate bikers, and volunteers distributed fruit and water at regular intervals along the route. Holden called the event a great idea for combining good health and charity.
