ABOUT US
The Accounting Students Association (ASA) was founded in 2001, in conjunction with the Department of Accounting. ASA is an official student society that is affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Economics. Since then, ASA has become a successful platform between students and corporate organisations including (but not limited to): Ernst & Young, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, Pitcher Partners, Grant Thornton, BDO, McGrathNicol, Dixon Advisory, CPA, ICAA, ACCA Global, IPA, Navitas and Tan & Tan Lawyers. ASA has organised a number of big events such as the Accounting Professional Pathways Evening (APPE), a series of Firm Luncheons and the Welcome Back BBQ.

SELECTION CRITERIA
ASA is looking for individuals with the following characteristics: Has a genuine interest in contributing towards ASAs objectives; Committed and who possess the time to be involved with ASAs events (this includes attendance at weekly meetings and ASA events); Highly motivated, displays initiative and a willingness to learn; Positive and enthusiastic attitude; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Highly organised and able to meet deadlines; and Previous experience in a professional workplace and or other extracurricular is Preferable but not essential

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
Joining the ASA is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fun and vibrant team and be involved with organising networking events and career support for student members. ASA is currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated students to join its subcommittee for the remainder of 2013, with the potential to move into an Officer or Director position in 2014 in the following portfolios: Descriptions of the relevant portfolios are as follows:

Publications
Roles & Responsibilities: Assisting in the preparation of official ASA publications for members and sponsors Maintaining and updating the ASA blog Skills required: Strong command of both formal and informal written language Exceptional time management and organisation abilities

I.T.
Roles & Responsibilities: Maintaining the ASA website and other social media outlets Sending out all electronic communication to members Maintaining ASAs membership database Skills required: Strong knowledge of computers and technology Exceptional time management and organisation abilities

Marketing
Roles & Responsibilities: Assisting in the promotion of ASA and sponsor events Organising events advertising such as posters, flyers, lecture bashing, chalking etc. Skills required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Marketing minded with an awareness of student needs

Activities
Roles & Responsibilities: Event organisation Developing an indepth understanding of the Universitys bookings and events policies Liaising with university staff and external parties Organising venues for ASA events throughout the year Skills required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Exceptional time management and organisation abilities

Sponsorship
Roles & Responsibilities: Managing ASAs corporate and noncorporate sponsors Liaising with HR representatives regarding involvement with events and/ or potential sponsorship Assist in the distribution of sponsors promotional material to students Skills required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Exceptional time management and organisation abilities
