Chapter 7 In History Alive

Chapter 7, I learned about the ancient cities of Egypt, Kush, and Canaan. They have many good resources and some bad ones such as five deserts in the area. There are two main things I will be talking about in the up coming paragraphs. They are there physical features and environmental factors. Here are these two things about Egypt in the next paragraph. Egyptians settled near northeast Egypt along the Nile River. The Nile, was their most important physical feature they had because of water and food. There were three deserts surrounding them, the Libyan Desert, the Arabian Desert, and the Nubian Desert. Even though these were mostly avoided. The Nile River was lead from a marshy delta that lead from the Mediterranean Sea. This was salt water, but had many kinds of fish. They got many resources from the Nile River. They lived on the flat plains in the valleys that the Nile flowed through. There plant life or vegetation near here is papyrus and reeds to weave baskets and to make paper and many more uses. This place had all the environmental factors, water, topography and vegetation. The Kush settled near the Nile River, but the southern part. They got water from Nile river as did the Egyptians. They also lived near the same three deserts as Egypt. They lived near the Red Sea as well. This was salty water and very hot and dry climate. The Nile River had valleys and plains through it. Most of the time they settled on the plains in the Nile River valleys. Again they have papyrus and reeds for the same reasons.

This is for their plant life or vegetation. They had all the resources that they needed all around them as did the other cities around. The ancient city of Canaan settled along the Mediterranean Sea or near it. They settled near the Jordan River. Which was their best source of fresh water. Near them also was the Negev Desert, The Dead Sea, and the Syrian Desert. There Deserts were different. They got more rain in the winter for good growing land and fertile soil. The Sea of Galilee was another good source of fresh water. Some of Canaan were nomads. Which meant they almost constantly traveled. They sometimes lived in costal plains and even The Lebanon Mountains. There were light forests and grasslands in some areas. Also many areas were dry and hilly. They had plentiful resources where they were. As I said, I learned about the ancient cities of Canaan, Kush and Egypt. There were many interesting parts and there were some very informative parts. But all in all, I think that this was a great chapter. I learned a ton on Egypt, Kush, and Canaan and hope you did too. In
