Masters Degree: Current masters degree-seeking student in Nutritional Science at San Diego State University. Accepted into the Didactic Program in Dietetics at San Diego State University. Bachelors Degree: Began Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at the University of Arizona and transferred to the University of San Diego in 2006. Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, minor in Biology.

INTERNSHIPS
San Diego State University Research Foundation WIC Program San Diego, CA 2012 - Present Responsible for intervention study design in interconception care for the WIC population of new mothers. Submitted a proposal for funding from the USDA and the UCLA WIC program for interconception health intervention study. Submitted a proposal for funding from the Allen Foundation for interconception health intervention study. Investigated research in the topics of periconceptional health, the effects of infant energy expenditure on achievement of motor milestones, energy expenditure in preschool-aged children, and the effects of music on physical activity in toddler years. Developed Daily Bits of Interconception Health, Daily Bits of Nutrition, and Daily Bits of Physical Activity for Toddlers to be implemented in upcoming programs in those areas for WIC participants. University of California San Diego Moores Cancer Center San Diego, CA February 2013 Present Responsible for scheduling of clinic visits for participants of the Energy Trial study. Conduct clinic visits for participants of the study which include measurements of height and weight, waist circumference, and blood pressure. Lead participants through three minute step test, and measure and record heart rate following the test. Responsible for data entry of participant info, measurements, and questionnaires. Conduct 24-hr recalls with participants as a measure of dietary intake.

Effects of cayenne pepper on antioxidant capacity, antioxidant enzyme activity, inflammation and lipid profiles in DSS treated rats fed an atherogenic diet Masters Thesis research on the effects of cayenne pepper on liver enzymes and antioxidant enzyme systems in October 2012 with Dr. Mee Young Hong. Findings to be presented orally at the Student Research Symposium at San Diego State University in March 2013, and by poster at the Experimental Biology 2013 Conference in Boston, Massachusetts in April.
