Adair-Casey School Library Weeding Policy Withdrawl of Library Materials Responsibility of Withdrawl of Library Materials: The Adair-Casey Board

of Education designates the professional staff of the library media center to perform all tasks associated with the process of weeding. Procedure for the Withdrawl of Library Resources: Library materials that are inappropriate for patrons or contain outdated or inaccurate information may be removed from the collection. In addition, replacement of lost or worn materials is dependent upon current demand, usefulness, more recent acquisitions, and availability of newer editions. Criteria for the withdrawl of library resources may include: Inaccurate and/or outdated information Negative stereotypes Poor physical condition No circulation within the past 5 years No longer needed to support the curriculum or for recreational use Multiple copies of the title are no longer needed When a book is withdrawn and the weeding process is completed, library records will be updated to indicate that the item has been removed from the library collection.
