I am in search of a job in music education. I currently have the most experience teaching Middle School and High School band. I have had experience directing groups of various skill levels all the way from beginning band to groups with people who have played their instruments longer then I have been alive. I have a heart for communities and while I hope to have high preforming ensembles my first priority is to help my students learn how to become a positive and successful part of their community. I have also had experience starting groups. I began and lead two different swingdancing groups. Because of these groups I had the opportunity to plan and organize multiple fundraising events, the most recent of which a dance to raise money for Relay for Life and the first being called a Jazz Extravaganza where two local high school jazz bands preformed followed by the Hillsdale College jazz combos. I am proficient in playing the Trumpet and have a solid background in piano having taken lessons for 10 years. I also possess the skills and knowledge to play all of the instruments typically found in concert band and orchestra well enough to teach them. In addition to my Education placements, I have augmented my experience in the classroom by going to school with my father. I shadowed him during the day in his band room both observing and teaching whenever I am home on breaks. I have also been able to develop communication skills too, connecting with students during my time as a youth group leader during my first two years of college.
