I have taken part at Sunnybrook Geriatric Day Hospital and worked hands on with the geriatric patients who participated in the Recreation Therapy program. At Sunnybrook I completed assessments and documentation of patients. I also worked with individuals in a one-on-one setting to increase their computer skills, led the group mental aerobics program, and ran the putting group activity to increase physical mobility. I feel this was a great opportunity, and I am focusing mainly on geriatrics as my permanent goal. The unique skills I bring include a strong aquatic background in a therapeutic pool such as the one in Variety Village where I had my placement this fall. While there, I helped seniors, as well as persons affected by strokes and dementia, maintain their fitness level, and work on balance and mobility. I took part in instructing swimming skills to individuals with various capabilities and a range of developmental challenges, adapted aqua fitness geared to seniors. Currently, I am living with my grandmother who requires my assistance in many levels. I helped her become mobile after a car accident, and continue to motivate and encourage her to express her feelings, even though she is often confused, and finds it difficult to use her words. I am a dedicated, responsible, caring, motivated, hard working, and energetic person. Working in a team setting, helping individuals with various capabilities to reach their full potential using therapeutic recreation approaches is my passion. My intention, once I graduate, is to write my certification for NCTRC and register with TRO. I feel that I can be an asset as part of your team and would like the opportunity to do so.

Thank you for your consideration,

Leeatte Frisch-Israel
