In 2011, PRAIS Foundation developed and continued the rollout of a series of 3 projects aimed at the sustainable development of the community and its involvement in 2 major complementary areas: promoting healthy lifestyle and protecting the environment.

1. "I LIVE HEALTHY, TOO! SETS" 2. "MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, MILLIONS OF TREES" 3. "YOUR WORLD? CLEAN!"

"I LIVE HEALTHY, TOO! SETS"

In March, PRAIS Foundation officially launched a 5-year national movement, named I live healthy, too! SETS, aimed at preventing child obesity among children under 12 and promoting a healthy lifestyle among their families. As a premiere, this topic is being addressed in a holistic manner: mind, body and soul, by the Scientific Panel of the SETS Movement, which gathers reputed medical doctors, pedagogues, psychologists and Olympic athletes. Over the next 5 years, the moment aims at reaching 250,000 pupils, 6,000 teachers and 1,000,000 family members, and over 3 million citizens, including children, set to join the cause on www.sets.ro and via public communication.

Activities:
The pupils from the primary level in 215 schools in Bucharest and Roman received a free educational book 2 different tomes, issued for 2 school years. The books promote the benefits of daily physical exercise and balanced nutrition, Olympic sports, values and role models. Teachers and parents were informed directly, and there were 40 open lessons in schools, delivered by students in UNEFS (National University of Sports and Physical Education) and opinion leaders. SETS Sports and Entertainment Clubs are a new play-based educational concept for school pupils. The pupils voluntarily organised 150 clubs, coordinated by their teachers, mobilising thousands of pupils in pleasant physical exercises, after school. www.sets.ro portal is a major communication platform of the movement to the wide public, containing two sections, one for parents and one for children, video and written interviews and vast information about nutrition, sports, lifestyle.

Studies show that 1 out of 7 children in the EU is overweight or obese. Statistics are worrying: these children will have poor health and low quality of life. In Romania, the prevalence of obesity is under 10%, and the level of physical exercise is much below the European average: 19% of the Romanians exercise regularly, vs. 27% on an average in the EU.

Within this context, the Romanian movement is aligned to the methodologies of International Epode Network IEN, it belongs to. These projects are implemented in 18 countries, including: France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.

"Millions of People, Millions of Trees"

In 2006, PRAIS Foundation launched the national planting movement Millions of People, Millions of Trees, starting from the effects of global warming, caused by the massive deforestation taking place in Romania. " Millions of People, Millions of Trees " movement aims at promoting planting activities of companies, organisations and institutions in towns and their surroundings, according to the annual planting timetable (spring and autumn).

Objectives:
Raising awareness of the major role that the society should play in protecting and recreating the environment HERE, NOW, TODAY, by planting trees and other plants. Publicly promoting the volunteering activities in terms of environmental protection and involvement in this movement as responsible citizens, business companies, associations, state institutions. Educating the young generation in the spirit of environmental protection, through their active involvement in this programme. Obtaining measurable results at national level, assessed every year in November. Creating a national movement that would serve as an example for other countries in Europe and in the world.

MOMC is officially recognised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is carried out under the umbrella of the global UNEP programme, Plant for the Planet.

Millions of People, Millions of Trees was also nominated in 2007 in the environmental CSR programme section of the IPRA Golden World Awards, by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA)

The results of the planting activities are listed on the platform www.milioanedecopaci.ro, so that all the participants registered in the planting competition are automatically introduced in a ranking of the most active companies which got involved in the effort to protect the environment in Romania, by planting trees or other plants.

"Your world? Clean!"

Launched in 2009 for a period of 5 years, the national initiative Your world? Clean!" is an educational programme targeting 4th-grade pupils and promoting the selective collection of recyclable waste as well as environmental protection.

Objectives:
The extracurricular educational programme, Your world? Clean! LTC aims at the responsible civic education of the young generation as regards selective collection of recyclable waste, thus contributing directly to environmental protection. Your world? Clean! directly involves fourth-grade pupils from the primary schools in district 1, Bucharest, as well as in communities from Dmbovia, Medgidia, Hoghiz, Timioara and Arad.

Your world? Clean! is the educational component of the national planting movement Millions of People, Millions of Trees, a programme officially recognised by UNEP.

Activities:
Every year, the pupils receive a free educational book, stickers and leaflets for the direct information of the pupils parents and relatives. Open lessons on environmental protection are delivered in schools by specialists. The pupils are stimulated to write compositions and projects on environmental protection, care for nature and its resources. The compositions are registered by the pupils directly on the website www.lumeatacurata.ro and are awarded every month. The pupils are also invited to create decorative objects out of recyclable materials, which are then displayed in school exhibitions; the most beautiful of them are rewarded at the end of the school year in a festive ceremony. The partner sanitation companies provide the schools from Bucharest involved in the project with bins for the selective collection of paper and plastic, and the collected recyclable waste is quantified every month. The results of the collection activities are then registered on the programme communication platform, on www.lumeatacurata.ro, which automatically generates a ranking of the most active schools in the district.
