Question: Is Saddm [Husayn] a Kfir (disbeliever)? Imm al-Albn: A thing of two has been said about Saddm.

I always say that the Muslims should not care whether the ruler is a disbeliever or sinner. No matter what, it is the same for the Muslims. What will happen if we say that he is a disbeliever or Muslim and sinful? Questioner: It would be obligatory (for us) to revolt against him. al-Albn: Ah, who should revolt? Those who are not capable of revolting against the jews? Who will revolt? I therefore say that the youths of today are misguided when they pose questions like these and believe, and maybe even know, that a certain ruler is a disbelieving apostate. Tayyib (Ok), what should the people do now? They shall revolt against him. They are not even capable of removing his injustice, not to mention that they should revolt against him and overthrow him. The picture of today shows that the Muslims, and especially the youths, do not know how they should act for their religion. Everybody knows that revolts have occurred in some Islmic countries. Religious enthusiasm was the greatest reason behind them, but how were the results? Incredibly negative and bad. They wanted to reach welfare, but reached calamity. The reason was the same as I earlier mentioned in relation to the Intifada; lack of religious and material means. Let us now return to your question. If Saddm is a disbelieving apostate, then we Muslims are obliged to work for an Islmic society and an Islmic country. That day, all individuals will cease being obstacles regardless whether they are disbelievers or sinful. I therefore deem that it is entirely wrong of the Muslim youth to busy themselves by getting answers of whether a certain ruler is a disbeliever or not. Because there is no practical benefit in questions and answers like these in accordance to what we have mentioned earlier.
