DALHOUSIE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

755 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 6R1 Michael Powell, President

5 April 2013 Peter Hume, Chair, Ottawa Planning Committee Dear Mr. Hume, Re 853 Carling (Dow Motors site) & the Carling-Preston CDP The Dalhousie Community Association is on record as opposing the construction of new motor vehicle roads in the neighborhood, including the Adeline Street overpass to Hickory and the mews street along the east side of the OTrain cut. We want to make clear that this opposition also extends to the creation of a public street connecting the east end of Sidney to Adeline. We are aware of Richcrafts proposal for a pedestrian plaza east of Sidney. We feel everyones time would be much better spent developing a plaza design rather than a typical street. We would hate to see that opportunity foreclosed by the city adopting the Dark proposals for public streets there and thus ruling out the plaza. Please do not consider this a blanket approval of their current plaza plan, or their overall development plan. But we think the Richcraft plaza proposal is much more community friendly than the Dark version. Sincerely, Michael Powell President cc: Ms. Diane Holmes Mr. Randolph Wang Mr. John Moser
