Research Assistant Dr. Frances Kelley Fall 2004-Spring 2006 I worked for Dr. Kelley performing various duties including: building faculty websites, conducting library research, creating databases, building online surveys, managing datasets, and assisting faculty with editing and grading responsibilities. Supervised Clinical Experience Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center Santa Barbara, CA Sexual Assault Advocate/Long-term Collaborative Counselor Marilyn Goldman (12+) September 2012-Present I provide crisis counseling to recent survivors of sexual assault through an Empowerment Model, in which survivors are responsible for selecting and utilizing solutions to their healing. The Model emphasizes social factors such as sexism, racism, classism, and other forms of oppression as responsible for sustaining a rape culture. I also provide long-term counseling within a feminist model emphasizing empowerment, the integration of the personal and the political, and the importance of social change in the reduction of violence against the oppressed. Other duties include: Hotline coverage, advocacy, accompaniment, and imparting of information regarding local resources and options. I conducted initial assessments, administered, scored and interpreted psychological tests, conducted psychological evaluations, and consulted with families and schools to develop effective Individualized Educational Programs and behavior management plans to facilitate student success. Additional duties included conducting suicide risk assessments, facilitating co-therapy with Masters level interns, managing a substantial caseload and receiving 2-3 hours of face-to-face supervision weekly. Weekly duties included: initial assessments, individual and group therapy, substantial caseload management (e.g., > 100 clients), and one to two hours of face-to-face supervision. Glenwood Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Behavioral Health Unit West Monroe, LA Counselor Dr. Tony Young Adults (18+) June 2007-May 2008 I facilitated stress management, life skills, communication, and Interpersonal Process groups for two psychiatric units. I was the primary weekend psychological services provider, I performed psychosocial interviews, documented services provided, initiated family involvement, and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to establish aftercare plans. Additional duties included taking vitals, deescalating crisis situations (i.e., individuals under the influence of alcohol; possibly following legal involvement or a domestic dispute), and interacting with Local and University Officials. Breakthrough II Plattsburgh, NY Primary Advocate Adults (18+) I supervised clients, advocated for clients as necessary, and maintained house inventory (including food, household, and personal hygiene items for 10 residents).
