Bottenfield Elementary School, Champaign, IL Jan.2012-May 2012 Practicum Student, 3 hours a day for 16 weeks Taught elementary school aged students with autism and specific learning disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting. Collaborated and Co-Taught with Kindergarten and 1st grade general education teachers daily. Developed a longitudinal curriculum plan for student with severe disabilities which involved interviewing and investigating domestic, leisure-recreational, and community domains. Assessed students current level of performance in literacy skills and developed an academic literacy curriculum. Differentiated instruction and implemented reading intervention strategies based on schools RTI model, and conducted curriculum based measurements on a weekly basis in math and reading using AIMSweb. Urbana High School, Urbana, IL Sep.2011-Dec.2011 Practicum Student , 2 hours a day for 12 weeks Taught a cross categorical classroom with students in grades 9 th-12th focusing on intensive literacy intervention using the researched based Corrective Reading Program. Externship in Chicago Public Schools Participant Jan.2012 & 2013 Participated in an externship program focused on observing culturally responsive teaching in an urban setting, and analyzing the role of paraprofessionals in the classroom. Attended a 2 day Externship that focused on observing Chicago Public Schools and the Special Education programs for low incidence disabilities. Aided in Chicago Public School classrooms in tasks such as feeding, behavior management, and assisted in partial participation in academic tasks such as writing and reading, as well as life skills tasks such as feeding and positioning.
