COPPER CLAD STEEL EARTHWIRES
Generalities
These conductors are formed by several copper clad steel
(ARCO\VELD) wires, stranded in concentric layers. Copper clad steel
earthwires consist normally of 3 , 7 , 19 or 37 wires .The diameters of
copper clad steel wires are the same for every construction..

Properties
Copper clad steel is a steel, covered by a thick coating of pure copper
,cold drawn to obtain required characteristics and final wire size.
The copper clad steel wires, in comparison with galvanized steel wires
of same size, have a considerably higher electrical conductivity and
corrosion resistance, with a similar tensile strength and a slightly higher
weight

Depending of the final use ,this matt...1'ial can be supplied in conductivi-
ties of 30 or 40% I.A.C.S. and also in annealed, high (H.S.) or extra high
strength (E.H.S.) condition
Applications

Earthwire for overhead transmission and distribution lines High and
Extra High voltage .Specially recommended in corrosive environments
or in coastal areas .
Tower earthing cable as an alternative to copper cables
