1. Gregory, Gayle, and Carolyn Chapman. Differentiated Instructional Strategies: One Size Doesn't Fit All. Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin, 2002. Print. A differential classroom is a classroom where a teacher focuses on the essential needs of the students. There are multiple areas of the classroom that can be differentiated. These areas are content, assessment tools, performance tasks, and differentiating instructional strategies. When differentiating content, teachers need to provide various different content to pertain to different students. Not every student is the same, so it is important to understand that providing variety is crucial in order to maximize a group of students chances of taking something away with them from the classroom. Examples of differentiating content can include leveling materials, using different genres, providing choice, and using a variety of instructional materials. When it comes to differentiating performance, teachers will need to provide opportunities to students to demonstrate what they have gained from the class. Allowing choice will be more beneficial, allowing students to perform in tasks that are most comfortable to them. This source is mainly about differentiation within a classroom. This portion of the book speaks on ways a teacher should be flexible with his or her students and learning material in order to meet the needs of the students. 2. There are research studies about how if an instructors teaching style and a students learning style are compatible with each other, then there will be a great chance of progression in a students learning. It is also possible for a student to evolve his of her learning style, simply due to more experience with different professors with different teaching styles. In this case it is up to the student to adapt to different teaching styles provided by the instructor. A researcher must take into consideration that many variables come into play when determining a students strengths and weaknesses in learning style. This article source suggests that a student can perform better if their learning style is compatible with a teachers teaching style. Also says that it is possible for a student to become flexible with ones teaching methods, which could lead to adaptation of multiple styles. 3. This article flips the script in relation to my research project. This articles focus is on the impact of learning styles on teaching. My topic is on the impact of teaching styles on students. 4. Miller, Brandi. "Running Head: THE IMPACT OF INDIVIDUAL TEACHING STYLES." Marietta College.edu. N.p., 2006. Web. 18 Mar. 2013. This article is solely directed on the impacts of teaching style on individual achievement. 5. Palos, Ramona, and Laurentiu Maricutoiu. "The Impact of Teacher's Thinking and Learning Styles Upon His/her Teaching." N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Mar. 2013. This article is also directed on the impact on teaching styles on learning. The last two sources are very similar in context although written by different authors. I think these two sources will be the most beneficial since they directly state my problem that I am trying to figure out. Both sources talk about how one teachers style may affect one student on one particular way and how another may affect a different student in a different way. I plan on implementing these sources into my inquiry paper.
