1. Export Development Canada is Canada’s export credit agency. Provide

services for financing, risk assessment, and insurance to help Canadian
exporters to expand their businesses international.
2. EDC provides: Export express credit, export guarantee programs, supplier
financing, security compliance loan, equity investments, project finance, and
buyer financing for Canadian companies. For foreign companies, EDC
provides loans, guarantees, and lines of credit.
3. EDC helps Canadian exporters by:

– Extend competitive payment terms and get paid for export sales.
– Manage cash flow by increasing access to working capital.
– Assess the credit and financial information of new U.S. and foreign customers.
– Acquire a contract guarantee without tying up much-needed cash.
– Strengthen bids by offering customers flexible financing repayment terms.
– Issue bonds for contracts and protect against a wrongful call.
4. Export insurance is an insurance which covers a specified amount of insured
losses if your foreign customer does not make payment.
5. Political risk insurance protects your overseas assets, such as equipment,
manufacturing facilities and etc. from political risks such as breaches of
contracts, conversion, political violence, non-payment by foreign government
and etc.
6. Average premium rate is between 1 and 2 percent depending on the country
this can be higher.

9. Export to Trinidad and Tobago has increased on a year-by year basis of 20%.
Trinidad has massive account surpluses, as well is one of the safest in Latin
America, however petty crime such as kidnappings are increasing.
Transparency and fair bidding procedures are not observed. Lack of
cooperation within the government leads to plenty of deadlocks, however
Trinidad still offers the most favourable business environments in the
carribian.
