letter of recommendation on behalf of Ashley Vanegas, whom I have worked with for the past five years. During this time I was able to serve as Ashley's Mentor, Reading Coach and Assistant Principal. Mrs. Vanegas shows sincere interest in her students as individuals and works closely with her grade level, administration, support personnel, fellow teachers and parents in order to provide a quality educational experience for every student. As a teacher, Mrs. Vanegas is very organized and committed to educational excellence. I am impressed with her planning of instruction,techniques, positive attitude, and her constant search for ways to make her teaching more exciting and engaging for her students. Mrs. Vanegas has complete control of her classroom at all times, asks for assistance when needed, institutes excellent student engagement strategies and successfully utilizes data when planning for instruction. She implements many effective strategies, including differentiation and ability grouping, project based learning, rubrics, formative assessments and frequent checks for understanding which are used to monitor and adjust her instruction. Ashley relates well with her peers and always exhibits a pleasant and friendly personality. I found her to be cooperative and constantly willing to volunteer to go the extra mile for her students and the school. She has served on the leadership team, been in charge of the recycling task force and attended training on the REIL Learning Observation Instrument, Socratic Thinking, Cognitive Guided Instruction, Math Strategies, Thinking Maps, Write from the Beginning and Beyond, Six-Traits of Writing, and Reading Strategies. It is evident that she is a talented educator whose focus is on the success of her students academically as well as personally.
