6. Installation Procedure
1. Before installing the bus-way, conduct an insulation resistance test on each busway device to check for possible damage or contamination during shipment or storage. With an insulation resistance tester rated at 500 volts, ensure phase-tophase, phase-to-neutral and ground isolation. 2. The Bus-duct route has to be checked with approved shop drawings and mark accordingly. 3. Mark the points of supports and fix the required support according to the approved detailed shop drawings and specifications. 4. Riser surface must be smooth, aligned, secured and protected well before any installation. 5. All the water curing work must be done earlier to the installation to avoid any leakage on the bus-duct. 6. Provide sufficient horizontal and vertical clearance from walls and ceilings to provide easy access to joints. 7. Level and plumb bus-way (align vertically and horizontally) before the final tightening of all joints. 8. Ensure that all joint contact surfaces are free of contaminants. 9. Align the busbar ends of adjoining sections, verifying proper busbar alignment, before sliding sections together. 10. Refer to manufacturer drawings supplied for proper installation sequence. 11. Verify that the system phasing matches the bus-way phasing 12. During installation pay special attention to riser bus-ways to protect them from moisture from incomplete roofs, walls and so forth.

With the rod engaged in the surge clamp, pull to slide the bus-ways together until the bus-way is spaced. 3. Install joint tie channels with supplied bolts. 4. Using a wrench with longer handle, tighten the joint bolt(s) until the outer head breaks off. 5. End cover shall be fixed at the end of last feeder element in vertical/horizontal run. 6. The last joint after the days work shall be covered completely by plastic sheet to prevent any dust/watering entering the busway. 7. The joint cover shall be fixed after installing the complete run. Till then all the joint covers shall be wrapped with plastic sheet to prevent the busway joints.

8. Safety
1. Safety precautions to be strictly followed during installation, testing as well as charging of any electrical equipment. 2. All appropriate safety protective gear, i.e. helmet, safety shoes, gloves, goggles, etc. should be worn by workmen. 3. Check the electrical connections if you are using any electrically operated machine and make sure that the connections are done properly as per the safety regulations. 4. Wear the safety belt while working on a scaffold or step ladders at high levels. 5. Work site should be kept clean and tidy and ensure after the work is completed. 6. Adequate lighting and ventilation should be provided in work area. 7. The safety matrix is attached.
