College of New Jersey School of Education Lesson Plan Bianca Venice Title: The Secret Grade Level: College

Description of Topic: I am going to be teaching a lesson on the great Secret of life. This Secret is described as the law of attraction. Through positive thinking and visualization you have the power to attract whatever it is in life that you want. Rationale: This topic is valuable for people of all ages. I think it is especially useful to aspiring college students on the road to following their dreams. Teachers can teach this Secret to their students as well. We need to inspire our students to dream big and teach them how to live their lives so they can achieve their dreams. Essential Question: How can you use the Secret in your everyday life in order to the live the life you have imagined? Prior Knowledge: Students will have a basic knowledge of the benefits of positive thinking. They most likely recognize the power of our mind. Some students may be familiar with the book/movie called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Students may have basic ideas of mental imagery. Objectives: 1. Students will learn how to use the methods of the Secret in their everyday life to live the life they have imagined

Assessments: 1. Students will have to create a Dream Board with their life dreams. After creating there dream boards they will need to write down three ways which they will use the Secret to achieve all of their dreams.

Hook: 00:00-00:05 1. I will capture the students attention through a short film of a man who used the Secret to gain his health back.

I will question the students, Now tell me, what is impossible? They told him he would never walk again..he did. And They told him he would never breathe again..he did. Anything is possible.

Activities: 00:05-00:20 3. I will then go through a Prezi with my students enlightening them about the Secret and how they can go about achieving their dreams using it. 4. After I finish the Prezi I will talk with my students about using dream boards to visualize what you want to achieve. Anything your mind can conceive it can achieve. I will model for the students how they are going to create their dream board by presenting my own dream board 5. I will also instruct the students to write three ways in which they will use the Secret to achieve this life which they have imagined. I will pass around the dream boards and the students will use their own markers and I will provide markers for those without them. Closure: 00:20-00:25 6. After students have written ways which they will use the Secret to achieve their dreams on the back of their dream board I will select a few students to share their dream boards. These students will come up to the front of the class show their dream board and read the steps they are going to take to achieve their dreams using the Secret. After a few students have shared their dream board I will share a few steps that I am going to take to achieve my own dreams to review some of the information from the Prezi. Differentiation: When students are creating their vision boards I will walk around and assist students who need inspiration as to what they should draw on their vision board. I will stimulate students creativity with different examples of dreams which they may have to inspire them further. Transitions/Classroom Management: When it is time for the dream board activity I will pass around the dream boards. The students will use their own markers and will be given some if they do not have any. Students will raise their hand when I ask volunteers to share their dream board. When students are finished early they will clean up their markers and look up at me. We will then proceed with the presentation of the dream boards.
