Special Notes for Spring 2013
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: Academic Dishonesty is highly unethical and will not be tolerated. Any student cheating on any assignment will receive zero points for that assignment and will be reported to the Vice-President of Student Affairs Office for review and additional action that may include dismissal from the University. Cheating is submitting work as your own that was done by someone else or another agency and includes copying the work of other students, books, articles, handbooks, or Internet sites. Clarion University holds all students enrolled in online only courses as well as face to face courses to a standard of academic integrity outlined in the Student Rights, Regulations, and Procedures Online handbook which may be found at www.clarion.edu/studentrights. All students are encouraged to become familiar with policies related to academic integrity including but not limited to plagiarism, collusion, cheating on an examination or quiz, or falsification of data. SUMBITTING ASSIGNMENTS: All assignments will be submitted electronically via Desire2Learn. Make sure you include the name of the assignment when you save it and the proper three file format; i.e. .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .htm, etc. No hard copies (printed) of assignments will be accepted. All graded assignments are final. You may not resubmit any assignment with corrections and expect a grade change. DONT SUBMIT ASSIGNMENTS LATE: All assignments and projects will be due on specified dates. Any project or assignment that is submitted late will lose 10% per calendar day it is late. After being late for 10 calendar days, assignments or projects will not be accepted.
ED 417: Teaching with Technology 3 2013 McCullough

TAKE ADVANTAGE of the RUBRICS: Most assignments will be graded based on rubrics that will be provided. Follow the rubric criteria to get the scores you want! Rubrics are found on Desire2Learn and should be downloaded and/or printed so you can follow the criteria for each assignment. ATTENDANCE COUNTS: Make sure you attend class. Please notify your instructor if you know in advance that you will be absent. More than three unexcused absences will affect your final grade by a deduction of 5 points per additional absence. COURSE RECORDINGS: Audio or video recording of classroom meetings is not allowed without prior permission from the instructor. UNDERSTAND and EXPECT FLEXIBILITY: Anything and everything is subject to change. Do not be surprised if the course calendar is not followed exactly or if assignments are altered. TAKE NOTES DURING CLASS: You should come to class each day with something on which to take notes. Just as in any other class, important information will be covered and you should be taking notes, preparing for the projects and exams. Dont rely on only your memory to help you learn new things. Write down what you are learning and use it later to help you understand the new concepts. DO YOUR HOMEWORK: This class is not unlike other classes. Although you may not have homework exactly like in other classes, you should be practicing what you learn and keeping up with all topics and assignments outside of class. There will not be enough time in face-to-face classes to complete all the assignments. You must work on your own as well. FACEBOOK, TWITTER, SOCIAL NETWORKING, and CELL PHONES: Social Networking and communication tools are awesome! We can stay in touch with friends and family around the globe just by the touch of a few keystrokes. However, class time is not the place for social networking, unless related to an assignment. Please respect the classroom environment and your classmates by turning off cell phones and staying off social networking sites. BACK-UP YOUR FILES: There is NO excuse for losing files. You MUST make back-ups of your files. It is highly recommended that you buy a USB Flash Drive or try an online backup site to back-up and save your files. MICROSOFT OFFICE is the NORM: Across the electronic world, the standard for word processing files, presentation files, and spreadsheet files is Microsoft Office. All such submitted assignments must be in Microsoft Office format. HOWEVER, if you do not own Microsoft Office, you DO NOT need to purchase it, as there are many ways to convert your files into Word format. GRAMMAR and SPELLING is IMPORTANT: Make sure you use proper grammar and spelling in all assignments. You will lose 1 point for every two grammatical and/or spelling errors found in any assignment.
