Social Responsibility Work Habits Applying Applying

--- is a bright, sensitive and positive learner. She shows compassion for her peers, independently applies herself to tasks at hand and is showing signs of adjusting strategies when faced with tasks that are challenging. --- has matured emotionally since the beginning of the year, this is shown in her willingness to enter and stay in the class-room without delay.

* --- is able to count to ten, name numerals, and represent/construct numbers with objects. * Understanding the value of numbers is most important for children at this stage in their learning. * Strategies we will continue to work toward are what comes before?...and what comes after questions?

* --- is able to associate letter sounds to the corresponding letter correctly. This term popcorn words (common sight words) were introduced; this is a strategy to assist children with learning to read. * During story time I encourage students to read the popcorn words they recognize in the text as I am reading the story aloud. It would be helpful to --- if the same Strategy was applied at home during family story time.

* --- participates in shared activities in a respectful manner such as listening to stories, singing and show & tell. She is also an advocate for her peers who find themselves in challenging situations. * During choice time --prefers activities that she can do independently: drawing, painting, & reading rather than interacting with her peers. We will continue to encourage --- to take risks in co-operative play.

* --- is meticulous and approaches tasks with a positive attitude, her work is a reflection of both these characteristics. *Time management in combination with attention to detail are skills we will be working on with --as kindergarten progresses. * Strategies that can be practiced at home are time left warnings prior to the transition of one task to another.
