Informal Outline: Vodafone entering strategy in India


Vodafone is the worlds largest telecommunication company with over 200 million
customers located across the continents.

They have decided to acquire Hutch in a direct cash purchase. This has given them
a direct market share of 35 percent in India. The company operates in 16 of the 23
circles across the country and has already become the second largest GSM operator.
Primarily the company operated on the name of hutch brand, recently it has been
fully rebranded as Vodafone.

For this report we will be analyzing Vodafone’s marketing strategy in India.

We will be looking at acquisition of India’s second largest mobile company “Hutch”


and how they plan to build further on this existing brand leverage further to gain
market share.
