Course: Development of curriculum for the whole child (ECED 2060) Assignment: Integrated unit for young children (living , NON- living ) Teacher in early childhood education must know how to use their knowledge in designing , implementing , curriculum, which encourages children to explore a variety of materials and experiences. Effective

curriculum is rich in opportunities for practicing social , intellectual , academic and life skills . Also , the curriculum must provide for all areas of childrens development physical ,emotional ,social ,linguistic and cognitive . This assignment about design an integrated unit for young children which include plans for variety of activities either they are individual, small group activities or big group activities. It also includes plans for stories, songs, field trips and events, which are related to the theme. As suggested in Standard 5, I assume that teachers ground their practice of developing curriculum

according to understanding of young childrens development ,needs and learning processes. Teacher use their own knowledge, appropriate early learning standards, and other resources to design, implement, and evaluate meaningful, challenging curriculum for each child as stander 5 mentioned . From this assignment and course in general , I have learned how to write a lesson plan with detailed procedures, setting learning goal and objects, determining needed materials, concepts, warm up activity, follow up activity, activity's simplification, activity's extensions and evaluation. Also, I have learned how to plan for activities which are integrated, self-corrected, hands-on, child-centered, age appropriate, developmentally appropriate, and culturally appropriate (DAP).I realized that it is important to think of all domains of development while I plan for an activity or a lesson. In addition, this assignment help me to learn first step to design curriculum is sets goals are realistic and attainable for children according to their age and development level . Moreover, now I learn when I work with children I need to keep in my mind

that each child is on a different development level , so I must provide him\her with activities that are challenging and developmentally meaningful to him\her . I believe that curriculum should include variety of activities and experiences be challenging but achievable, so by this curriculum teacher must encourage children to be proud of their achievements and abilities .
