Using ACE Models in OPNET Simulations

OPNET software allows you to generate network topologies based on ACE models. You can then reconfigure these topologies and run simulations to see how your applications behave in different network scenarios Creating network topology from ACE If necessary, create a new project and/or scenario where you want to place the generate topology. Choose Import Topology>From ACE from the Project Editors Network menu. The Create ACE Topology dialog box appears

This dialog box includes the following components: ACE Task Filename pull-down menuChoose the ACE file you want to model from this menu Local Segment Type pull-down menuThis setting determines how the ACE node will be connected in the generated network. If Shared is selected, all nodes will be connected by a hub; if Switched is selected, all nodes will be connected by a switch Include Packet AnalyzerThis setting determines whether the generated topology includes a packet-analyzer node. This is an ACE-specific model that captures trace data generated during a simulation and save it to an external file. Packet-analyzer nodes are especially useful when running simulations in a hypothetical network model that has no real-world counterpart. Set the menus in the Create ACE Topology dialog box and click OK. The OPNET program automatically creates a topology based on the ACE model. This topology includes specialized ACE node models and an Application Configuration object
