Title The first paragraph of your essay is the introduction. This paragraph should capture the readers attention and provide an overview of the subject matter. The last sentence of this paragraph is the thesis statement. The thesis statement should state the purpose of the essay with three sub-topics. The first sentence of this supporting paragraph should state the main point of the paragraph. The main point of this paragraph should be the first sub-topic listed in the thesis statement. The only point that will be discussed in this paragraph will be the first sub-topic. Everything stated in this paragraph will be supported with research using in-text citations that refer to the reference page citations. Here is an example in-text citation for paraphrased information (Humphrey, 2013). Notice that there is also a citation for the paraphrased information that comes before the quote in the paragraph. This paragraph is an example of what to do if the paraphrased information in the paragraph came from more than one source (Humphrey, 2013). The final paragraph of the essay is the conclusion. The conclusion will re-cap key points, tie everything together, and restate the thesis.
