The area of a rectangle is height times base, but in the case of a triangle, it's height times base / 2. For everyone, area has been taught to people obviously before they are in 6th grade. This lesson was just a half step up, to find the area of square units. That’s basically area, but involves a little more time in counting. The area of a rectangle is height times base, but in the case of a triangle, it’s height times base/2. But this lesson did not only involve area, it also asked to include the pattern in a set of shapes, and tell how the shape’s area is different from one another. Only about one thing was different that we did in 6th grade that I didn’t do in past years: found the area of more complex shapes. I think the main purpose of this lesson was to help us find the area of more complex figures.
