PERSONAL CONDUCT
USE OF ALCHOLIC LIQUOR WHILE ON JOB IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. PRACTICAL JOKING AND HORSE PLAY WHILE ON THE JOB IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. DO NOT DISTURB THE ANOTHER WORKMEN FROM HIS JOB UNLESS HE THINKS THAT THE WORKER IS DOING SOMETHING WHICH IS DANGEROUS,TO HIS PERSON, OTHER WORKMEN OR TO THE EQUIPMENT. THE DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST AN EMPLOYEE WHO ENDANGERS HIS OWN OR VIOLATING SAFETY.

ALWAYS BE CAREFUL: THE WORKMEN SHOULD PLACE HIMSELF IN A SAFE POSITION FOR AVOID FALING, STUMBLING,OR MOVING BACKWARDS AGAINST LIVE PARTS. THE WORKMAN SHOULD SATISF HIMSELF REGARDING THE SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS BEFORE STARTINGTHE WORK.

CORPORT WORKS IS IN PROGRESS BY THE USE OF SIGNS,PERSONAL WARNING TO PUBLIC. WHEN WORKING ON CUSTOMERS PREMISES OR PUBLIC PROPERTY, TO AVOID HARARDS TO PERSONS OR UNNECESSARY PROPERTY DAMAGE. WHEN WORK IS CONDUCTED ALONG PUBLIC STREETS OR HIGH WAYS,PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SHALL BE WARNED BY SIGNS AND FLAGS BY DAY AND RED LIGHTS BY NIGHT.

WORKMENS SAFETY DEVICES


RUBBER GAUNTLETS,GLOVES MATS,BOOTS ,INSULATED PLATFORMS AND STOOLS,SAFETY BELTS,AND OTHER SPECIAL INSULATED DEVICES SHALL BE USED AS REQUIRED BY EPLOYEES WORKING ON ELECTRICAL APPARATUS. UNDERGROUND MAINS AND OVERHEAD LINES AS A PRECAUTIONAGAINST ACCIDENT OF ELETRICAL SHOCK. PLIERS AND OTHERS TOOLS INSULATED WITH BRITTLE MATERIALS OR OTHERWISE LIABLE TO HAVE THE INSULATION DAMAGED WHEN IN USE,SHALLNOT BE USED.

THE SUPERVISOR-IN-CHARGE OF THE WORK WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO TESTAND ENSURE PROPER USE OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT .

INSPECTION OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT


ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT SHALL BE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED: MONTHLY,BY THE SUPERVISOR QUARTERLY BY THE ASST EXE ENGR ONCE IN SIX MONTHS BY THE DIVISION OFFICER FOR ITS BEING IN GOOD CONDITION.

RESPONSIBILITY IN USING SAFETY DEVICES


IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EMPLOYEE TO MAKE USE OF SAFETY DEVICES PROPERLY. RUBBER GLOVES IT SHOULD NOT BE ROUGH HANDLED AS TO BE DAMAGED.AFTER THE WORK THEY SHOULD BE CLEANED AND POWDERED WITH FRENCH CHALK AND STORED IN A SAFE PLACE.

USE OF RUBBER GLOVES SHOULD BE INSISTED ON


WHEN INSPECTING THE TRANSFORMER OR ITS H.T & L.T. LEADS. WHEN CONNECTING WIRE NEAR A LIVE CONDUCTOR OR EQUIPMENTS. WHILE REMOVING OR REPLACING FUSES OF H.T. INSTALLATIONS. A COMBINATION OF GLOVES & HICKERY ROD OR FUSE POLE RODS SHOULD BE USED WHERE THE VOLTAGE EXCEEDS 5,000 VOLTS.

CARE OF SAFETY BELT


IT SHOULD BE PROPERLY HANDLED. IT IS PERIODICALLY TREATED WITH OIL TO PREVENT ITS HARDNESS. EXTRA HOLE SHOULD NOT BE PUNCHED AS IT WEAKENS BELT. IT IS PRESERVED IN A CASE.

LEATHER PROTECTING GLOVES


IT MAY BE WORN OVER THE RUBBER GAUNTLETS WHEN WIRES ARE BEING OVERLAPPED WHEN SOLDERING WHEN LINE WIRES ARE BEING TIED TO INSULATORS.

LADDERS
LADDERS MUST BE OF STRENGTH TO CARRY THE HEAVIEST LOAD ALONG WITH WORKMAN. DEFECTIVE LADDER SHOULD NOT BE USED. 2 LADDERS MUST NOT BE JOINED TOGETHER. LADDERS SHOULD NOT BE PLACED IN WET OR MOIST CONDITIONS.

ROPES
FIBRE ROPES(1)MANILLA FIBRE (2)SISAL FIBRE (3)HEMP FIBRE MANILLA ROPE- IT IS STRONGEST & MOST AVAILABLE.IT IS OF A YELLOW COLOUR WITH SILVER OR PEARLISH LUSTRE AND HAS SILK FEEL. SISAL ROPE- IT HAS 67% OF STRENGTH OF MANILLA ROPE.IT IS YELLOWISH WHITE WITH GREENISH TINT. THESE ARE HARD AND STIFF.

HEMP ROPE-IT IS AS STRONG AS MANILLA ROPE. IT IS MORE RESISTANT TO ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS.IT IS OF A DARK GREY COLOUR & IS MUCH SOFTER THAN MANILLA ROPE.

HAND TOOLS
PROPER TOOLS SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED FOR WORK. ALL TOOLS SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. A SCREW DRIVER SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A SCISSOR. A CUTTING PLAYER SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS A HAMMER. OTHER TOOLS SUCH AS PLIERS, WRENCHES WHETHER INSULATED OR NOT INSULATED SHALL NOT BE USED WITHOUT RUBBER GLOVES WHILE WORKING NEAR LIVE PARTS OF ANY VOLTAGE.

LINE CLEAR
BEFORE ANY WORK OR TESTING IS CARRIED OUT ON LIVE MAINS, A LINE CLEAR OR A PERMIT TO WORK IN THE PRESCIBED FORM IS TAKEN COVERING THE MAINS TO BE TESTED. THE STATION IN-CHARGE WILL ISSUE THE FORM TO THE RANK OF THE SUPERVISOR. AFTER PROCURING THE LINE CLEAR FORM, THE SUPERVISOR CAN PROCEED WITH THE WORK. THIS FORM SHOULD BE KEPT THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE WORK.

AFTER OBTAINING LINE CLEAR FORM.


OTHER THAN THE FAULTY LINE, THE IN BETWEEN LINES ARE GROUNDED BY USING GROUNDING ROD. CHECK FOR THE FAULT & ATTEND THE WORK IN FAULTY LINE. CONFIRM THAT WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED & REMOVE THE GROUNDING IN BETWEEN THE LINES CONFIRM THAT NO WORKMAN PRESENT ON THE POLE AND LINE CLEAR RETURN OR PERMIT TO WORK FORM IS CONVEYED PERSONALLY OR THROUGH PHONE.

DUTY OF PERMIT ISSUING OFFICER


THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OF LINE CLEAR FEEDER SHOULD BE OPENED. CIRCUIT BREAKER OF THE SAME SHOULD BE PULLED OUT. LINE CLEAR SIGN BOARD IS HANGED TO THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. LINE CLEAR FEEDER G.O.S. SHOULD BE OPENED. HOLD BOARDS & MEN ON LINE BOARDS SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO THE G.O.S. G.O.S. SHOULD BE GROUNDED. AN ENTRY IS MADE IN LOG SHEET. UNTIL THE LINE CLEAR RETURN THE BREAKER SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED.

AFTER LINE CLEAR RETURN..


DUTY OF PERMIT ISSUING OFFICER G.O.S. GROUND SHOULD BE REMOVED. HOLD BOARDS ARE REMOVED. CLOSE THE G.O.S. CIRCUIT BREAKER SHOULD BE PULLED INSIDE & CHARGED.

TREATMENT OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

TAKE DEEP BREATH PLACE YOUR MOUTH OVER THE PATIENTS MOUTH & BLOW. SEAL THE PATIENTS NOSE.

GIVE 6-8 QUICK BLOWS & CONTINUE TO INFLATE THE CHEST ABOUT 10 TIMES PER MINUTE.

HOLGER NEILSEN METHODLAY THE PATIENT FACE DOWN AND HANDS UNDER THE CHIN. IF HANDS ARE INJURED KEEP THE CHIN UP FROM BENEATH WITH A FIRM PAD. SEE THE AIR PASSAGES ARE CLEAR KNEEL ON ONE KNEE AT PATIENTS HEAD PLACE YOUR HANDS ON PATIENTS SHOULDER BLADED & MOVE FORWARD WITH YOUR ELBOWS WITH OTHER FOOT NEAR HIS ELBOW. STRAIGHT UNTIL YOUR ARMS ARE VERTICAL PRESSING DOWNWARDS GENTLY.IT SHOULD TAKE 2 SECONDS GRASP THE PATIENTS ARMS JUST ABOVE ELBOWS AND MOVE YOURSELF BACKWARDS LIFTING ELBOWS ABOVE THE PATIENTS HEAD(2 SECONDS). LOWER THE ARMS & TRANSFER YOUR HANDS TO HIS SHOULDER BLADES. REPEAT TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE RATE OF 10 TIMES PER MINUTE.

SILVESTER METHODREMOVE ANY FOREIGN MATTER BLOCKING THE AIRWAY PLACE CASUALTY ON HIS BACK WITH PAD UNDER HIS SHOULDER SO THAT HEAD FALLS BACK FULLY EXTENDED. KNEEL AT HIS HEAD.GRASP PATIENTS ARMS AT WRIST CROSS THEM OVER THE LOWER CHEST & PRESS TO SQUEEZE THE AIR OUT OF THE CHEST(2 SECONDS). PULL THE ARMS UPWARDS & OUTWARDS TO ABOVE HEAD,STRETCHING THE CHEST (3 SECONDS) REPEAT THE WHOLE MOVEMENT APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES PER MINUTE.
