Organization of Your Paper: Introduction: This should be no longer than one paragraph and should include an attentiongetter that draws me in to your paper and provides a clear thesis meaning not only telling me what theory you have selected, but also how your paper will be organized. Body: This is where you will provide the literature review. This is the meat of the paper and should be the longest part. I want you to tell me what research others have done using your chosen theory. The following is intended to help you organize your paper: Start with a definition or explanation of what the theory is and where (who) it came from. Next, for each of three (3) original research studies, provide a summary discussion and analysis of those studies. This would include (1) a brief explanation of what they studied, (2) their methods, (3) the results (data), and (4) what they thought the data revealed, if anything. Then finally, and most importantly, (5) give me your analysis of the study, using the categories found on pages 69-72 of our text as the basis for your comments. You must do this for each of your three selected studies, one at a time. What you are doing here is a literature review of these studies, something you would do if you were about to do some original research of your own. As such, you must be reviewing original research, not somebody elses summary, article, or literature review of a study. The library will assist you in finding original research. This format is similar to how most of the studies you will read are written: they explain the theory, use it, and then end with implications for future research and limitations. Our textbook chapters are done this way as well.

Conclusion: Finish with one or two short paragraphs where you summarize the paper briefly, tell me what you learned about this theory, and why you think it adds meaningfully to the study of communication. You may include in this summary a general discussion of what you and others have claimed are the strengths and limits or constraints of the overall theory you selected.
