POST MORTEM OF JEE MAIN 2013

The offline mode of JEE Main 2013 was conducted smoothly across the country on Sunday the 7th of April, 2013. The general consensus is that the paper was easy with no real surprises for aspirants. The format of the paper was similar to last years AIEEE, making clear the fact that JEE Main is just a new name for AIEEE. (Basically the product is same only marketing is different). There were 3 sections physics, chemistry and mathematics of equal weightage each containing 30 questions carrying +4 for correct responses, -1 for wrong entry and zero marks for no response. Only questions with single correct answers were asked in the exam. Subject-Class segregation of weightage of JEE Main: Subject Physics Chemistry Maths Class XI 40% 50% 55% Class XII 60% 50% 45%

Physics was comparatively difficult than chemistry & mathematics as it had some lengthy and time consuming calculations. The exam was covered almost every topic of every subject making it of an exhaustive nature. A serious aspirant just cannot afford to leave any topic untouched and hope to get through. JEE Mains aims to check an aspirant on certain attributes, such as: Problem solving skills Time management skills Syllabus coverage Clarity on theoretical material The exam does not expect you to derive formulae on the spot (if you do so, you are just killing your precious exam time), it expects you to remember each & every formula by heart. Application of concepts

What JEE Mains does not check in an aspirant: Deep expertise in a particular topic Multiple application of concepts

Students writing the exam in online format can be rest assured that the paper will be on similar lines & pattern. The overall difficulty level of the online exam will be same as of offline one. What does an easy paper mean to an aspirant? Greater degree of competition Higher cut-off than last year Accuracy & speed will make or break aspirants chances of making it to their dream colleges.
