HOST SITE APPLICATION ESSENTIALS

The 13th Annual San Diego Solar Tour showcases 16 unique grid-tied solar-powered homes, apartments, busin esses and public agencies to educate San Diegans about the diverse array of cost-cutting clean energy options in todays solar marketplace. Slated for September 20-21, 2013, these self-guided tours dovetail with the American Solar Energy Societys National Solar Tour, the worlds largest grassroots solar event. In 2011, San Diegos tour was one of hundreds of tours attracting over 90,000 people across dozens of states throughout the U.S. Presented by the San Diego Renewable Energy Society, the 13th Annual San Diego Solar Tour offers home o wners, renters, business owners, representatives of public agencies, students and educators the opportunity to converse with property owners and solar experts about the innovative solutions they are employing to cut energy costs and create a sustainable energy future.

1. Who can apply?

Nominations can come from solar installers, architects and other green building professionals, environmental groups, educational institutions or the owners of solar-powered homes and businesses. Nominated sites should feature solar photovoltaics, domestic solar water heating or pool heating or any combination therein -- and must be located within San Diego County. They can run the gamut from solarpowered single family homes, apartment buildings and businesses to solar-powered attractions, hotels or public agencies. Net zero and LEED-certified homes will be popular. EV-PV solutions are a priority.
2. What is the application deadline for applications?

Deadline for applications is July 31, 2013.

3. Where do I submit my application?

Completed applications should be scanned and eMailed to SolarTour@sdres.org. Or, please call Terri Steele at 619-303-9310 to arrange a fax. All applications must include a project photo.
4. Who selects the tours Sweet 16 and when? SDRES and partners will evaluate applications and identify 16 solar-powered homes and businesses for the 2013 tour. Dubbed The Sweet 16, these sites will represent a complement of solar solutions dispersed throughout San Diego County. To ensure fairness, no more than two sites per solar company can be chosen for the tour. An empha sis will be placed on (i) clustering sites in South Bay, East County, North County Coastal, North County Inland and central San Diego, and (ii) presenting sites with unique solutions or multiple solar technologies. Sites will be confirmed once site host consent forms, terms and media/promotional releases have been signed and received. 5.

Thank you for your interest in helping fellow San Diegans Be Solar Inspired!
