Today we will read and respond to Robert Frosts poem The Road Not Taken.

Today we will finish reading The Great Gatsby.

Do you agree with Nicks statement They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made? Justify your response. In his final comment, Nick says: Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but thats no matter tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther And one fine morning So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past? What does this quote mean? Why is this quote significant to the theme of the American Dream in the novel? How was Tom, Daisy, Meyer Wolfsheim, Mr. Klipsringer and Gatsbys other wealthy associates not attending his funeral, a matter of survival for them? Why does Mr. Gatz show Nick Gatsbys schedule from his youth? What does this show you about the kind of person Gatsby was meant to be? Why do you think his was an important/unimportant part of the novel?
