Containersortrailersreceivedatthewarehousedockshouldbevisuallyinspectedtoensurethereisnoevidenceof damageorholes,doorsareclosedtightlyandthesecuritysealisstillpresentandintact.Thesealnumber(s)shouldbe checkedandverifiedagainsttransportdocuments.Allsealnumbersshouldberecordedonthewarehousereceiving report.Ifcontainersealisnotpresentorifcontainersealnumberisdifferentthanindicatedonthetransport documents,cargoownershouldbenotified.Allsealsshouldberemovedbyfacilitypersonnelandnotbythetruck driver.Unloadingofoceancontainersshouldoccurwithinthreedaysofremovalfromtheterminal. BAGGEDCOFFEE Bagsshouldbeunloadeddirectlyontocleananddrypalletsincrisscrossingorcrosstierlayerstoensurestablestacking. Bagsshouldnotoverhangpalletsbymorethanfourinchestopreventstressonthebagcorners. Photographsshouldbetakenoftheunitnumberappearingontheexteriororinteriorofthecontainerortrailer. 3. Photographsshouldbetakenofthedamagedcoffeestillwithinthecontainerortrailer. 4. Photographsshouldbetakenofanyhole,crackorotherbreachinthecontainerortrailer'sstructuralintegrity whichmayhavecausedthedamagetothecoffee. 5. Continueunloadingwithdamagedbagscountedandsegregatedfromapparentsoundbagsbyplacingthemon toseparatepallets. 6. Theownerofthecoffeeshouldbeimmediatelynotifiedandinstructionsobtained. 7. Deliveryreceiptmustbenotatedwithexceptionsincludingthetotalnumberofbagsreceived,thenumberof bagsdeemedtobedamaged,andanyvisibledamagetocontainerortrailer. 8. Warehousereceivingreportshouldindicatequantityreceived,allexceptions,containerortrailercondition, numberofdesiccantbags(drybags),whethercargowasprotectedbykraftpaperorcardboardwithinthe containerortrailer,whethertheventswereopenedorclosed,andwherethedamagedbagswerelocated withinthecontainerortrailer.Adiagramisausefultooltorecordcontainerortrailerdefectsandspecific location(s)ofdamagedbagswithin. 1

Ifanywetorotherwisedamagedcoffeebeansarediscoveredduringtheunloadingprocess,thefollowingactionsshould betakentominimizelossandprotecttheinterestsofthebeneficialcargoowner: 1. Onceinstructionshavebeenreceivedtoproceedwiththeunloading,damagedcoffeebeansmustbecarefully andthoroughlyremovedensuringthatanymoldyordamagedbeansareclearlyseparatedfromsoundbeans. Damagedbeansshouldbecollectedinbags,supersacks,orothercontainersandweigheduponcompletion. 7. Deliveryreceiptmustbenotatedwithexceptionsincludingthepresenceofdamagedcoffeeandanyvisible damagetothecontainerortrailer. 8. Warehousereceivingreportshouldindicateapproximatesoundanddamagedquantitiesreceived,container condition,whethercargowasprotectedbykraftpaperorcardboard,ifthereweredesiccantbags(drybags) present,iftheventswereopenedorclosed,andwheredamagedbeanswerelocatedwithinthecontaineror trailer.Acontainerdiagramisausefultooltorecordcontainerortrailerdefectsandspecificlocation(s)of damagedbeanswithin.
