Dear Parents/ Carers With the Phonic screening test now in the rear view mirror the annual cycle of testing in the school has now passed. Teachers will still be busy assessing children right up to the very last week of term to ensure accurate assessments are recorded for children, communicated home and passed to the next teacher. As a school we have begun evaluating a very busy year and begun focussing our thinking towards next year. The next few weeks are still extremely busy though and I urge you to keep a close eye on the Diary Dates between now and the end of the term. This week is a good example as it sees Y4 visit Escot for their Wild Night Out and the Y3 sleepover at the school on Friday. I thank the staff and student helpers that give up considerable extra time to make such events possible. Summer concert On Wednesday 17th July KS2 children and school groups/ensembles will be performing in a concert at the church featuring music, singing, gymnastics and drama. The concert will be raising money for Clic Sergeant - a charity supporting children with cancer which is very close to our hearts here at St Peter's The concert will be at 7pm in St Peter's Church following rehearsals in the afternoon. Summer and sun Please remember that children can bring a hat to school to wear on particularly sunny days. Children are not allowed to bring sun glasses to school. This is because they can be of considerable value and often get lost or broken causing upset and fallouts for staff to deal with. The trees also offer excellent shady areas during particularly bright days. Can I also remind you that children are not allowed to bring in footballs from home to use at playtimes - hard balls can often (accidentally) cause injury to small children when they obscure the path of a powerful shot! Nutritional standards We have seen a marked improvement in the amounts of healthy foods in children's packed lunches and less chocolate and crisps. Thank you for your co-operation in helping us ensure that all St Peter's children eat healthily. Whole school Photograph We have booked to have a whole school photograph taken on Thursday 4th July at 11.00am to celebrate our centenary year. Please can you make sure that your child has their green jumpers/cardigans in school on the 4th July.
