Practical investigation

Aims
States the purpose of the investigation To find out whether changing [independent variable goes here] will change the [dependent variable goes here]. To investigate the effect of [independent variable goes here] on [dependent variable goes here]. E.g. To investigate the effect of concentration on the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and marble chips

Hypothesis
What you expect to happen. You expect to happen to the dependent variable when the independent variable is changed. Does not need to include a reason. E.g. The rate of reaction will increase as the concentration increases.

Fair Test
Only one variable is changed directly (independent variable)
E.g. concentration

One variable might change in response (dependent variable)

E.g. rate of reaction

ALL other variables must be kept the same so that the results are fair and repeatable.
E.g. temperature, surface area, volume
