RedHat 6u1+ was certified after the release of the OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.1.5 and greater) software. The certification matrix shows the OS version as certified; however, installer checks have not yet been updated. This is expected with release 11.1.1.7.0 Oracle Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) 6.5 Installing on Operating Systems Not Certified at the Time of Product Release Note: The -ignoreSysPrereqs option should only be used if ALL of the following conditions are met: It should only be used with the specific combination of products, releases, and operating systems listed in Table 6. Your operating system is certified for use with Oracle Fusion Middleware, as described in the System Requirements and Supported Platforms for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR1 document (see Section 2, "Finding Oracle Fusion Middleware Certification Information"). Your operating system adheres to all the requirements and specifications as described in Section 7, "System Requirements for UNIX Operating Systems" and Section 8, "System Requirements for Windows Operating Systems".

Solution 1. Use the following command to check that the following packages are installed:

rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}_%{ARCH}.rpm \ %{INSTALLTIME:date}\n" | grep Note: some are 32-bit packages and some are 64-bit. Always check the latest documentation.

Per the SRSP: To work around this issue, you can click the Continue button to ignore this warning message, or you can start the installer with the -ignoreSysPrereqs option. For example: ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs The -ignoreSysPrereqs option should only be used if ALL of the following conditions are met: It should only be used with the specific combination of products, releases, and operating systems listed in Table 6. Alternate workarounds: Workaround 1: If the -ignorePreReq option fails, then you can use the following workaround to make the installer think this is a certified version. o o o ls -ltr /etc/*release* Back up: /etc/redhat-release Add a file called: /etc/oracle-release with the contents Oracle Linux Server release 6.0 The installer should read this and match it with the information in:

3.

/bishiphome/Disk1/stage/prereq/linux64/refhost.xml

Workaround 2:

o o

Where the install media is unzipped, backup: /bishiphome/Disk1/stage/prereq/linux64/refhost.xml Update the file and change: From: <CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS> <OPERATING_SYSTEM> <VERSION VALUE="6"/> <ARCHITECTURE VALUE="x86_64"/> <NAME VALUE="Linux"/> <VENDOR VALUE="oracle"/>

To: <CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS> <OPERATING_SYSTEM> <VERSION VALUE="6"/> <ARCHITECTURE VALUE="x86_64"/> <NAME VALUE="Linux"/> <VENDOR VALUE="redhat"/> Test the install

Workaround 3: o o Back up: /etc/redhat-release Update the file with: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga) Note: This may give failures on packages since it is checking the RH5 pre-reqs;however, if you have them installed as documented in the SRSP, then it is OK to proceed.

This should not be an issue with 11.1.1.7.0
