Start Designing Pier (Pedestrian Only No Vehicular Load)

Determine Location

Determine DWT

Calculate Coastal Forces: 1. Berthing 2. Tractive 3. Current and Wave

Calculate forces accdg. To NSCP, AASHTO and PPA Standards 1. DL 2. LL 3. WL 4. EQK

Conduct Bathymetric Surveying

Geotechnical investigation

Determine fender spacing

Refer to Excel file: Petron Navotas Combined Excel Sheets NP-2011036

Gather Elevations from Contour/Topographic Map

Gather borehole logs

Determine pile length

Using fender spacing and DWT, draw a scheme showing span length, no. of spans, expansion joint location if necessary

Determine subgrade modulus

Get MELRs approval A B

Model Pier in STAAD using DL and LL

Model Pier in STAAD for Seismic Analysis *Slab should have nodes at quarter points

Gather Force Envelope due to DL and LL separately

Gather Support reactions @ mudline, end of pile and columncoping beam connection using DL, Longitudinal EQK, Transverse EQK, 1.0Longit+0.3Trans, 0.3Longit+0.3Trans

Design Slab

For plastic hinging, shear reinforcement, refer to Petron Navotas Combined Excel Sheets

Reference: Flat Slab: 1. Petron Navotas NP2011-036 2. Pueblo de Panay NP2008-013

In SP Column, input column properties, nominal axial and moment then check column capacity

Deck Slab: 1. Southpoint NP2012-024 2. Petron Rosario NP201155

RCDG: 1. Pueblo de Panay NP2008-013 2. Irawan Bridge NP2008-032

Check maximum longit. Displacement for expansion joint detailing

Model coping beam in STAAD

Gather force envelope Gather column forces at location of fender to design fender support Design coping beam and compare with STAAD results. Decide for the details.

Gather transverse forces @ midspan of slab to design edge beam against LL & berthing forces
