Introduccin:
Las siguientes son las prcticas generales requeridas para todo laboratorio
que maneja sustancias infecciosas.
1. Deber estar disponible un manual de procedimientos especficos (de
seguridad) en el laboratorio para todo el personal que trabaje con el.
Todos sus requerimientos debern ser seguidos, el mismo estar
documentado y ser revisado y actualizado con regularidad. Deber
estar colocado en un lugar accesible para todos y ser firmado por
todo el personal.
2. El personal debe de recibir entrenamiento sobre todos los potenciales
peligros asociados con el trabajo, as como sobre las precauciones
necesarias para prevenir la exposicin a agentes infecciosos y la
disposicin y descarte de materiales. El personal debe mostrar
evidencia de que ha entendido las instrucciones dadas en el
entrenamiento el cual deber tambin implementarse programas
continuos de entrenamiento.
3. No est permitido comer, fumar, beber o guardar cualquier tipo de
alimentos, pertenencias personales o utensilios. Est prohibido
maquillarse, colocarse o removerse lentes de contacto. El uso de lentes
de contacto est permitido solamente cuando no hay otra opcin. El
uso de joyas y accesorios no est recomendado en el laboratorio
4. Est prohibido pipetear con la boca cualquier sustancia.
5. El cabello largo debe de estar atado atrs o arreglado de manera que
no entre en contacto con las manos, con las muestras, con los
contenedores ni con el equipo.
6. El acceso al laboratorio y reas de apoyo est limitado a personal
autorizado. No se admiten nios.
7. Las heridas abiertas, cortadas, rasguos y abrasiones deben estar
cubiertos con materiales a prueba de agua.
8. Los laboratorios deben de mantenerse limpios. El almacenamiento de
materiales que no son pertinentes al trabajo y que no pueden ser
fcilmente
descontaminados
