37.The sum of the even numbers between 1 and n is 79*80, where n is an odd number. N=?

N=159 anyone agree ???

Posted By: pb_india Subject: Feb mjj 37 Date Posted: 03 February 2005 at 9:08pm Consider.. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 ,n=7

Sum of even = 2(1+2+3) So, Sum of even from 1 to n = 2*(n-1/2)* {(n-1/2)+1} = 79*80 Solve for n => 159

Posted By: etcetra Subject: Feb mjj 37 Date Posted: 06 February 2005 at 7:05pm We need to get the sum 2+4+6+ ...n-1 ( as n is odd) Sum of an arithmetic series = (Number of terms)* Avg Number of terms of a series = (n-1)/2 Avg = (First term + last term)/2 = (2+n-1)/2 = (n+1)/2 => sum = (n-1)/2 * (n+1)/2 = 79*80 You can then solve/easily figure out by looking at the eqn. that n = 159

39. 1<3 x<100, x is square of a prime integer. How many such prime integers are there? 1<3*x<100, x is square of a prime integer. How many such prime integers are there? 3*7*7>100 Hence, Only 2, 3, & 5 fit here. Hence, 3 as Answer.

44.c and t are integers, c*t=? 1) c/t=15/7 2) The greatest common divisor of c and t is 3 Reference key: C 1 alone is not sufficient. 2 alone is not sufficient. But condition 1 and 2 together, we can get t=7*3 = 21 and C = 15*3 = 45 so c*t = 21 * 45 = 945 so the answer to this question is C.

50.What is the value of (1.00001*0.99999) - (1.00002*0.99998)? (It could be plus, I forgot), but the key is to change it to: (1+10^-5)*(1-10^-5) - (1+ 2*10^-5)*(1- 2*10^-5).
