Fatwa 10: Selling the Subject Matter of a Salam Sale before Its Possession

Question: Party A buys forward, at a fixed price, one hundred tonnes of grain in January 1985 and is due to receive it in May 1985. Then, two months before the delivery date, i.e. in March 1985, Party B offered to be As partner for the forward sale that A had contracted. Is it permissible for B to be As partner for this contract, either based on the same value that A has paid for the principal amount, or for more or less?
