Intern provides appropriate, helpful feedback to students. Interns communication with cooperating instructor and students is polite, supportive and timely. Email communication with cooperating instructor and students includes subject and salutation. Interns discussion additions expand the learning and stimulate additional research, questions and/or discussion. Words are sincere and open, coming from a place of mutual learning versus a place of authority. Treats students as valued customers. Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I feel like I provided a warm welcome to all of the learners and provided appropriate feedback. I think that my response to some of the discussion and stimulating additional research could be stronger. Im sure this will come with practice over time. I always do my best to be sincere and treat everyone equal. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Julie was a delight. In the beginning, she was a little hesitant to jump in, as would be expected, but within a few days, she was participating like a professional. She took to online teaching as a seasoned veteran. All of her postings were welcoming and friendly.

Her feedback was meaningful, and to the point. I heard many wonderful compliments as to her style of questioning. Her comments, and questions always lead to further discussion and comments. The students enjoyed her role as an instructor, and respected her knowledge and experience. Julie certainly added to the warmth and the success of the class.

Discussion interaction Intern promotes student understanding of the connection between course work and professional work outside of the online classroom. Intern encouraged reciprocity, teamwork and collaboration Intern observes student posts and adds personal additions during the most appropriate time period. Interns discussion additions expand the learning and stimulate additional research, questions and/or discussion. Posts at least 3 times per week. Models professional presence (logs in 5 of 7 days). Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I read learners posts and provided feedback. I realized that bullying is a very sensitive subject to some people and that extra care needed to be put in my discussion responses. Many of the learners in the class have either been bullied or someone they know has been bullied. Many had regrets for not handling the situation better. This class was an eye opening experience for the learners as well as myself. I logged into the course room 6 to 7 days a week. I responded to all the learners between the two discussion areas that I was asked to post in. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). I fully agree with your comments here Julie. You did a good job of keeping the momentum going. Some want to glide, and others want to slide. It is our job to ensure that we meet the goals of the classroom, and ensure the high quality of education and academic standards that our college or school guarantees. It is very hard for me to do, but it sure saves getting those gray hairs and stress lines. Julie was great about relating her personal/professional experiences with the students. From their feedback, it was much appreciated. Julie was outstanding in her use of offering resources, and additional research to challenge students. I would say that this was to be considered one of her greatest strengths. It is always nice to challenge others in the class to go just a little deeper in their thinking.

Professional Communication Interns communication with cooperating instructor is polite, supportive and timely. Email communication with cooperating instructor is brief and to the point. Intern is dependable and present. Should special circumstances arise the intern keeps the cooperating instructor informed as soon as possible. Intern respects a chain of command by always consulting the cooperating instructor first about any elements of student performance. Intern understands the need for strict confidentiality when working online. This means that specific student information and performance data is only to be discussed with the cooperating instructor (first) and practicum supervisor. Participates in a weekly phone conference with cooperating instructor. Intern is proactive, providing the required communications and reports without being repeatedly prompted by the cooperating instructor.

Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I communicated with Alfi one or more times a week by email. I believe that I was as proactive as I was able to be. I provided a reflective summary to Alfi at the end of each week. I strive to always be dependable and supportive. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Julie has a great style of communication. She was always prompt, and met all time lines. I especially appreciated her keeping me informed as to what was going on. Julie will make a great "team" member of any online instruction. She always provided me the needed paper work, and met all required deadlines. Having a team member who can keep their end of the agreement is essential with online teaching.

Administrative/Teaching tasks (Pre-course and ongoing) 1. Reviews all links and course readings and links to be sure all are updated and available. 2. Reviews all course materials closely for needed text edits. 3. Provides feedback on course design, technical tools and dynamics. 4. Should a broken link or editing problem arise, the intern facilitates content revision with specific and detailed feedback on where and what the problem is. Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I checked the links each week in the course room and reported back to Alfi if there were any links that were not working. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Julie, Nothing is more frustrating when a rotten link is present. I

appreciated you discovering these, and letting me know. For me, this is one of the most important admin task we do. Before the class, I asked Julie to check all materials, links, and resources. This is a very time consuming activity, but she accomplished it with a smile....

Weekly tasks 1. An active discussion participant, posting at least 3 times per week. 2. Where appropriate, answers student questions with patience, confidence and resourcefulness. 3. Agrees upon weeks tasks with Cooperating Instructor and provides the service within the agreed upon time frame. 4. Looks for stranded posts (Primary posts that have not gotten a response within a reasonable period of time.) and responds as needed. Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). This was a short 5 week class. I was only asked to participate in Modules 1, 2 & 3. I posted more than three times per week. I made sure that I responded to everyone. I kept track of the learners that posted, and the ones that did not. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Julie met the requirement of meeting posting at least 3 times or more per week. I encouraged her to make sure at lease everyone gets some sort of "official" notice each week, and she met my expectation very well. She would let me know when she had a concern with a student, and was very receptive to letting me handle the situation. Again, this was a great demonstration of a true team player.

Intern discussion facilitation Guided Practice. During the second half of the course intern will facilitate one required discussion forum. At the end of the discussion the intern will review student participation and do a practice evaluation of student performance using the course grade scale. Student evaluation/grades recommended by the intern are reviewed by the Cooperating Instructor who offered feedback as needed. The Cooperating Instructor is free to use practice grades and evaluations as they see fit. Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I was asked to participate in the discussion for Modules 1, 2 & 3. For Module 4, I did a practice evaluation of the learners performance in all of the activities using the rubric for the class

discussion. This gave me a good opportunity to see how grading is done. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Although I gave the official grades, I had Julie offer feedback for me to evaluate her abilities. Her comments were exactly as I would have done. She gave very good feedback, offered some improvement times, and left them with something to think about. I every case, they accepted her feedback for improvement. I would consider this as one of her talents as well. Having the ability to challenge students with the feedback, and offering suggestions for improvement. Students, especially when working on the final project, like to know what is going to be expected of them....I like to call this "Mastery vs. Mystery learning"

Intern tracking and feedback responsibilities The intern will offer a weekly report to the cooperating instructor on student activities within the course. This may include: a summary of student participation derived from the class list tracking tools; a review of previous modules looking for make-up work; a report on students missing in action any other types of feedback that help the cooperating instructor and intern better understand student work in the course.

Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). I provided a weekly reflective summary to Alfi and notified her if there were any learners that were MIA. Most of the learners seemed to post in a timely manner. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). Julie, this was a great job that you did on this. I wanted to see what you would repsoond to each of the students, and to see how they would respond. I strongly believe that using the PQP technique gives them a heads up as to what to expect when I give them the official report. If we believe that that any time we give an assignment, then they should be able to know what I am looking for. Great Job!!!

Intern technology tool initiation and support The intern will setup and facilitate one optional synchronous conference for students. The intern will summarize the highlights of this conference and provide these highlights to all students. (This is often waived by the Cooperating Instructor. Up for negotiation to say the least!) Interns self-assessment comments (upon completion). This was waived because of being such a short course. Cooperating Instructor comments (upon completion). *This list may be revised by the Cooperating Instructor to better fit the circumstances of the class. *Not all criteria need be applied. *Cooperating Instructor and Intern will share this document. *Intern writes mid-term self evaluation using this document and shares it with cooperating instructor. Cooperating Instructor offers informal feedback.

Mid-Term Self-Evaluation

I can't believe there is only two weeks left. The time is going by way too fast. I am really liking this class so far. Everyone seems to be easy to work with. I enjoy learning from other learners and gaining different perspectives. Overall, this is a good class for me. I enjoy reading the learner's scenarios. I feel like I am able to offer some suggestions on how the different scenarios could be addressed. I can see that bullying is a very sensitive subject and that many of the learners express stronger emotions each week. I found the school climate survey discussion to be a little challenging in how to respond to the learners. I am not real familiar with school climate surveys. However, I did some of my own research and this helped me some. Also, the examples that were provided were helpful.

Attentiveness X Online Cooperating Instructor skills Additional comments by intern. I want to thank Alfi for allowing me the opportunity to intern in her class. She was very helpful and provided me timely feedback and guidance. Not only has this class given me teaching skills, but it has also given me a chance to use some of my psychology skills during the discussions. I am looking forward to taking the skills that I have gained and applying them to an online teaching position.
