UNIT: Computer Technology GRADE LEVEL: 7th & 8th grade TOPIC: History of Computers THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How has the computer changed over time? BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The students will read through the Power Point on the history of computers, and click on the appropriate links, in order to view the videos, that discuss computers. Once students have read the slides and watched the videos, then they will answer the questions on the worksheet. CONTENT STANDARDS ADDRESSED BY PROJECT (Ohios Technology Standards) Students develop an understanding of technology, its characteristics, scope, core concepts and relationships between technologies and other fields. Students learn the operation of technology through the usage of technology and productivity tools. Students engage in information literacy strategies, use the Internet, technology tools and resource, and apply information-management skills to answer questions and expand knowledge. STUDENT TECHNOLOGY STANDARD ADDRESSED BY PROJECT: (ISTE Student Standards) Students apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes. Students plan strategies to guide inquiry. Students locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media. Students collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make information decisions. LEARNING/INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES: 1. Students will identify ways that computers have changed over time. 2. Students will identify important individuals involved in computer history 3. Students will learn to navigate through a presentation and internet, to answer pertinent questions.
