N. Cannon EDTECH 504 Reflection #5 Participate in Discussion Four: Theories of Educational Technology.

For this discussion, I want you to relate how your views and your original definition of educational technology have changed or not changed from the beginning of this course. Be sure to respond to at least two of your classmates' posts.

After taking several classes already in the EDTECH program, I had an idea of what my definition for educational technology would be. I stated that, Anything that can directly aid the learning process (understanding that not everyone learns the same way or at the same speed) and also increases the learning abilities of both the student and the educator. I think my original concept of the definition was correct for the most part as it related to me, my learning and teaching style. However, I noticed that there were other theories out there that were extremely detailed and related to numerous situations that teachers and students come across in the classroom. One theory in fact, Everyday Expertise, was something that I had known existed but I had just not been able to find a name or an accurate way to describe the phenomenon I was observing. Technology is still changing at a rapid pace but we have to remember that this new thing was created to make our lives, and learning of educational topics, a little bit easier.
